Moon-Day Magic: Harnessing the Power of Intuition

Written by Jamie Epstein

It’s Monday, April 29, & Moon is in Sagittarius, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Purvashadha. Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius vibrates with the frequency of our beliefs.

Our beliefs create a container of meaning for our lives, give us hope & inspiration. But beliefs are not based on facts, on incontrovertible evidence, objective truths.

There are, for example, people who still believe – seriously! – that the earth is flat, despite what most of us might call the incontrovertible evidence produced by photos from space. Not to get too deep into the danger zone of politics, but just look at the sitch in Gaza  – Israel or Ukraine or the battle between Dems & Reps in the States. Each side thinks they’re right, the other is wrong, & we know that “nobody can be right if everybody’s wrong,” as the Buffalo Springfield sang. Sag is opposite Gemini, who, thanks to being ruled by mercury, gives us discriminating intelligence.

“The truth does not require your participation in order to exist. Bullshit does.” – Terence Mckenna

It’s a good day to check the b.s. meter on our beliefs!

Purvashadha means “early victory”; “victory” refers to that which cannot be denied in us. many of us are planting seeds in our gardens for harvest in the summer. the seed is the promise, the early victory necessary for the later one. without the promise of heirloom zucchini contained in the seed, plus sun & water, there will be none to harvest & spiralize or turn into ratatouille later. this asterism reminds us of the promise-containing seed within each of us that is dying to be born. what dream are you tired of sacrificing b/c you don’t believe enough, b/c you are more concerned about what others will think? what would you create if you didn’t give a you-know-what about anything but nourishing that seed?!

It’s the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waning moon, which supports us in – drum roll, plz! – realizing our ideas on a material level, birthing something real & tangible. This tithi gives us the confidence not only to dream but to build our dreams & to sacrifice accordingly – if we don’t water & weed our garden, for example, it’s not going to produce.

Monday is ruled by the moon, planet of intuition, of heart-knowing.

“The most beautiful things in life cannot be seen or touched, but can be felt by the heart.” – Helen Keller

And that’s your daily bliss! Which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
