Embracing Emotional Depths: Monday’s Lunar Influence

It’s Monday, May 13, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Pushya. Cancer vibrates with the frequency of unconditional, selfless love, the kind a mother lavishes on her newborn.

Cancer invites us to tap into our ability to mother, to nourish another just b/c we can, a capacity we all have, regardless of gender or gender identity. A thousand years ago when I was at teacher training at omega, a few of us, hanging out in the laundry building between sessions, decided to lovingly fold the laundry of a trainee who was clearly having a hard time & had disappeared while her clothes were in the dryer. When she returned & saw her clothes waiting, she exclaimed at the gift as if it were a miracle. We all stayed mum, our hearts full as full. It was so. much. fun! You, too, can be a secret or not so secret santa today, perform a miracle of love! Try it & let me know how it goes!

Pushya means “nourisher” & is represented by the teats of a cow, b/c the ancient seers thought its three stars looked like a cow’s udder. the presiding deity is Brihaspati, the priest, who nourishes his/her/their disciples with wisdom & compassion. This asterism reminds us that whatever we nourish with love, compassion & the highest intentions will grow & thrive. What do you want to grow & what are you feeding it?

It’s the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which supports us in turning inspiration into manifestation, bringing form to the amorphous, nourishing a seed into a full, glorious bloom. It’s a good day to grow our dream into reality.

Monday is ruled by watery moon, as is watery cancer. The water element is all emotion all the time. So we get to double-down on feeling into our heart connections, & letting whatever challenging emotions we feel wash through & over us & keep on moving downstream.
