Friday: Venus Day – Embrace the Luckiest Day of the Year!

Written by Jamie Epstein

I’s Friday, may 10, & Moon moved into Gemini , while being supported & transported by the starspace or Nakshatra called Mrigashira. the shift from the energy of Taurus into the energy of Gemini is a shift from inertia to activity. Taurus is where we take a sort of timeout, rest up, Gemini where we get up & stretch, are eager to create anew, explore anew—in the physical or intellectual realm. notice how/if your energy shifts from morning to afternoon.

Mrigashira is the wandering deer, ever in search of the next tender morsel, ever unsated, not realizing that what s/he is seeking is not out there but in here. sigh.

“Stress is caused by being ‘here’ but wanting to be ‘there,’ or being in the present but wanting to be in the future.” – Eckhart Tolle

It’s the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waxing moon, which, combined with Sun’s exaltation in Aries & moon’s in taurus makes this Akshaya Tritiya, when there are said to be no malefic effects at play & whatever we undertake will be blessed with ongoing (“Akshaya” = “undiminishing”) good luck, prosperity & wealth! who doesn’t want that? so it’s perhaps the greatest good day to set intentions, start projects, sign contracts, make important purchases or investments, & donations of time or money are especially beneficial today.

Friday is ruled by Venus, planet of love & other earthly delights, who is now combust, i.e., too close to the sun for comfort, which means we may not be feeling comfortable with our Venus qualities, like desire & diplomacy, creating harmony in relationship. if, for ex, we feel underappreciated, we might feel bitter or resentful toward others, b/c our internal compass got melted by the sun’s rays. Venus is associated with goddess Lakshmi, who reminds us of the abundance & good fortune in our lives & that they are an inside job. given that it’s also Akshaya Tritiya, it’s an especially good day to call in the blessings of goddess Lakshmi through meditation or by chanting her mantra, “om Shreem mahalakshmiyai namah” (108 times is the recipe, or hit up spotify or youtube for a version to listen to).

And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
