Unraveling Truth: Exploring Mercury’s Influence on Wednesday

It’s Wednesday, May 8, and the Moon is in Taurus, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Krittika. Taurus vibrates with the frequency of our creature comforts, the small & big luxuries that make us feel cozy, safe & grounded. with ruling planet Venus combust right now (i.e., hanging out too close to the sun) & Jupiter, planet of expansion (“more, please!”), having just moved into taurus for a year’s stay, we may be confused about what true comfort is, may be envious of what others have or want more than we truly need. Beware overeating & over shopping & taking out your sense of lack (fake story, alert!) on others.

Krittika is ruled by Agni , the deity who embodies sacred fire, & is represented by a flame or razor, which means it’s a good day to burn up or cut away the waste & clutter in our lives – whether emotional or physical—to offer it up as a sacrifice into the sacred fire. Won’t that make cleaning out the closet more fun? Dealing with emotional gunk less fraught?

It’s the first lunar day (tithi), the first phase of the waxing moon, when we can see a glimmer of moon’s light in the night sky again, & thus light returning to our consciousness, when the first spark of our new moon intention starts to light us up with inspiration.

Wednesday is ruled by mercury, truth-seeker & storyteller. “The truth is always more interesting than the stories we make up to disguise it,” says writer-critic-artist Lucy Sante. And we know the truth will set us free, right? what’s your relationship with truth? humans are a narrative species – everything we do, think & say is the unspooling of a story. the question is, do our stories bring us closer to or farther from the truth? with mercury still debilitated in Pisces, the answer may still be elusive, but the question is still worth pondering.
