It’s Wednesday, May 22, & Moon is moving from Libra into Scorpio mid-afternoon while being supported & transported by the starspace or Nakshatra called Vishakha & will be full as full in Anuradha. copy that? as moon journeys from light, social libra into dark, emotionally fraught Scorpio, fears, self-doubts, insecurities & vulnerability rise to the surface.
The thing is, we’re not alone in this territory, & can hopefully find some comfort in that: “We can all be assured that others are also struggling with their own demons & facing their own fears,” wrote soulful soul & kirtan wallah david newman (may he rest in peace) in his gorgeous memoir, “the timebound traveler,” adding that “we undermine our own healing” -and, I would add, the healing of others – “When we hide our vulnerability from others with the fear that it might reveal shortcomings & weaknesses.” Scorpio gives us the courage to own our vulnerability, which is, you might say, both the poison & the cure.
Vishakha means “two-branched,” the two branches being the material & the spiritual. sometimes when hiking, you come to a fork in the trail, have to choose between one branch or the other, only to discover a mile or so later that both spurs meet up eventually. This asterism reminds us that we don’t have to choose, that as spiritual beings having an embodied experience, it’s both &, that the material supports our spirituality & our spirituality informs & inspires our materiality. Anuradha (more tomorrow!) invites us to ponder not “what would love do?” but “what would LOVE do?”
It’s the fifteenth lunar day (tithi), the last phase of the waxing moon, so, as mentioned above, it’s full moon time! & be forewarned that it may not be easy-peasy, smooth sailing, b/c the planets involved aren’t at their happiest: Moon is debilitated in Scorpio; Sun, Venus & Jupiter are opposite in taurus, where Venus & Jupiter are in a planetary war & getting fried by the sun to boot; & sun is being starved by Venus. yikes! all of which means our emotional IQ is way below normal & we may have a tendency to do what feels good (Venus) rather than what is right (Jupiter). more tomorrow!
Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, planet of discriminating intelligence, and given the emotional instability at play, etc., etc., etc., it’s an especially good day to use our heads, to trust our thinking mind rather than our untrustworthy emotions.
And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
