Tuesday: Ruled by Mars, Empowering Courage and Self-Realization

Written by Jamie Epstein

it’s tuesday, june 4, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called bharani until late morning, then krittika. aries creates an environment in which we can continue to reinvent ourselves, become our next best self, encourages us to step up & in, rise to the occasion of “me,” which sometimes yields the surprise of innovation. after countless hours of artistic brainstorming & amassing musicians from around the world & across many genres & endless rehearsals (aka jam sessions!), on the one-night-only performance of  jon batiste‘s “american symphony” at carnegie hall, the power went out onstage. did he freak out? quiver with insecurity? forget who he was? no. he smirked, took the goad &, the audience clueless, improvised a piano solo that turned out to be a highlight of the evening. how can you use adversity to innovate? what might stepping up more fully into the mystery of you yield?

bharani (see yesterday’s post for more) reminds us of the consequences of our actions & the need to take responsibility for them. krittika reminds us of what needs to go that is extraneous to who we are & that the process, if done with attention & intention, mindfully, is an act of purification. agni, the primordial god of fire, rules krittika, & gladly accepts all we offer if we do so with devotion. in the fourth chapter of the bhagavad gita, krishna says to arjuna, “whoever with loving devotion offers unto me a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, i affectionately accept that devotional offering from that pure-hearted being.” what can you toss into the sacrificial fire today with pure-hearted devotion to the highest in you?

it’s the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, until midmorning, then the fourteenth, which means moon is almost dark as dark, is releasing the last of its light. it’s not too soon, & krittika helps, to think about your new moon intentions & what you get to release to manifest them.

tuesday is ruled by mars, who also rules aries, & gives us the courage to be all we can & are meant to be. kurt cobain said, “i’d rather be rejected for who i am than accepted for who i’m not.” it’s a good day to tap into your inner mars & own who you are.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
