It’s Thursday, July 18, & Moon is in Scorpio, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Jyeshtha. Scorpio is where we get to test our ability to surrender, where the rubber meets the road in terms of whether we can stop resisting & making what is so effing hard even harder.
Eckhart Tolle reminds us that surrender is the inner transition from resistance to acceptance, from no to yes. & the philosopher Alain Badiou (who also has a lot to say about love!) points out that “all resistance is a rupture with what is. And every rupture begins, for those engaged in it, through a rupture with oneself.” Hmmm. … with Scorpio’s ruling planet, Mars, opposite, in Taurus, sending moon courage, & Jupiter hanging out in Taurus as well, sending wisdom, we have a great opportunity to smack down & step up, meet the challenge. The axis of Taurus & Scorpio is one of control vs. the opposite, of the need for security vs. the ability to be with helplessness, to trust. In the war between resistance & surrender, which are we going to let win today? Will transformation or stuckness take the gold?
Jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by Indra, who singlehandedly, & against the greatest of odds, slew the dragon holding the world’s water hostage. The symbol of this asterism is a round talisman, like an earring, which is said to represent divine protection. Donald Trump (not getting political, I don’t have any dogs in this fight!) has his moon here (not to mention Sun & Rahu in Taurus—wanna talk about control?!), &, considering that he has been able to dodge real & figurative bullets over & over, it seems that he is divinely protected. Lesson offered is that the most hopeless situation can be overcome with courage & cunning, that with great effort we can win our karmic battles, the universe will have our back.

It’s the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waxing moon, which is ruled by Kamadeva, the Hindu cupid, & has the quality of priti, “love.” Love is a flow, says Amma. Love is our essence, says my teacher Sharon Gannon. How can you be in the flow of love today?
Thursday is ruled by Jupiter, which makes it a good day to double-down on our wisdom sources, perhaps by honoring our teachers by practicing what they teach or reading scripture.
And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
