Are You Tellin’ Me This Is a Sign?
It’s Monday, July 29, & Moon is in Taurus, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Krittika. Taurus vibrates with the frequency of our comfort, which we usually seek first in a material way, from our stuff … until we realize, as Trevor Hall puts it, that we are enough just as we are & have enough: “I have everything I need/I have everything I need/I have everything I need/mmh, from the mountain to the sea/I have everything I need/I have everything I need.”
Krittika comes from the sanskrit verb kṛt (कृत्), which means “to cut,” as in using a sharp object, like a knife or axe, either of which can be used constructively to, say, cut away the impurities in our life that are preventing us from maximizing our highest expression of self, or destructively to harm another. Mind how you use sharp objects & b/c agni is the presiding deity, do beware of fire!
It’s the tenth lunar day (tithi), the tenth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to dharma, our sacred calling, which, as Stephen Cope has said, is often hiding in plain sight & b/c of that we miss it & don’t own it, don’t engage with it intentionally. Are you or aren’t you?
Monday is ruled by the Moon, who gives us our intuition. sometimes we need a little help to trust that power, we need a sign to wake us up, make us pay attention—a dream, a chance encounter, a traffic jam. In Jyotish when casting a Prashna chart for a client, a chart to answer a pertinent question, we pay attention to signs, what are called Nimittas: did they show up late? Did they insist on an inauspicious time for their consultation? Did our computer crash? Did we spill our tea? Did a child interrupt the session or a delivery person ring the bell?
A client recently shared that he had been increasingly frustrated with his job & that the sight of a crow jolted him into knowing it was time to quit.
There are signs/portents/omens around us all the time, if we are paying attention. They might indicate big stuff like it’s time to leave a job or smaller stuff like it’s best to cancel a lunch date. How can you deepen your self-trust by deepening your noticing? Today would be a good day to practice!
And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
