Deposit Goodwill & Attend to Wounds
It’s Monday, July 8, & Moon is in Cancer, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Ashlesha. Cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, of nurturing, unconditional love, the kind a mother has for a child, which gives without expecting anything in return or having any expectations for how the relationship will unfold over time, neither of which are easy asks, imo. I’m not a parent, but I know from my parent friends that while parents can be all-forgiving, children not so much—they can hold grudges, cling to resentment—despite a parent’s best intentions, despite how much goodwill parents deposit in their children’s psychic-emotional bank accounts.
Speaking of clinging, Ashlesha is ruled by the whole kingdom of celestial serpent beings & brings a lesson about what we are, just as a snaky being might wrap itself around a tree or its prey, clinging to, attached to as if our life depended on it. We get to ask whether our attachments—to emotions, people, situations, thoughts, behaviors—actually support our best versions of self or the opposite, whether holding on or letting go would be more healing, better serve us.
The end of Ashlesha is the end of Cancer, the “no starspace” between Cancer & Leo, where planets, in this case the Moon, have to make the unsupported leap from a Water sign into a Fire sign. This cosmic netherworld is known as a gandanta zone, which is a karmic knot, a place where we may feel the ouch of an old wound like a bandaid being ripped off. We may have thought the wound was long healed, only to be surprised that there is still some sting there. If you’re feeling it this evening, it just might be rooted in how you express (or don’t!) your feminine (Cancer) & masculine (Leo) energy.
It’s the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waxing moon, which, like Cancer, supports us with nourishing, maternal energy, encouraging the kind of creativity that will sustain our lives. It’s a good day to take care of our home & family.
Monday is ruled by the Moon, who wishes happiness for one & all & invites us to deposit goodwill so that it may be so—how might you do that?
“Goodwill toward all beings is the true religion; cherish in your hearts boundless goodwill to all that lives.”—Gautama Buddha
And that’s your daily bliss! Which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
