Moving from distraction to presence.
It’s Monday, June 24, & Moon is in Capricorn, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Shravana. Saturn-ruled Capricorn vibrates with the frequency of seriousness, of practicality, of being realistic. Coming after inspirational Sagittarius, Capricorn invites us to bring our dream down to earth, take action steps to transmute it from the ethereal, the amorphous, into something solid, especially, but not necessarily, concerning our immediate, material life.Shravana is the star of listening. ok, totally dating myself, but i remember singing the powerful Phil Ochs (photo) song “what’s that i hear?” at summer camp as a kid. the first verse goes:
what’s that i hear now ringing in my ears?
i’ve heard that sound before
what’s that i hear now ringing in my ears?
i hear it more and more
it’s the sound of freedom calling
ringing up to the skies
it’s the sound of the old ways a-falling
you can hear it if you try
you can hear it if you try
This asterism invites us to get still as still so we can get quiet enough to move past our thinking mind to hear our innermost innermost innermost voice. Some may perceive that voice as a ringing in the ears. Yes, tinnitus can be a siddhi (a yogic power)! Phil Ochs’s song was a wake-up call about what he perceived as the illusion of the American dream. It’s a good day to wake up from the distractions that are preventing us from becoming more present to the truth of who we are & are meant to be. What might the dissolution of illusion sound like to you?
It’s the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waning moon, which supports us in gently nourishing what we mean to grow, giving us the power to make our intention for the waning lunar cycle, or whatever else we want to manifest, sustainable.
Monday is ruled by the Moon, who gives us the ability to connect with one & all by feeling into sameness rather than difference, by heart-knowing that we are all more alike than not, b/c we are all reflections of the divine, regardless of how we appear on the outside. How would you walk through the world, how would you engage with others, if you truly knew that?
And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
