Harness Your Inner Warrior: Channel Mars’ Energy to Conquer Inner Demons

Written by Jamie Epstein

It’s Tuesday, July 2, & Moon is in Taurus, in the starspace or Nakshatra called Krittika. While Aries is all about do-do-doing, Taurus is about be-be-being—for Taurus vibrates with the frequency of contentment, with being good with what we’ve got & where we are. Taurus is an earth sign, which orients us toward the material. nothing wrong with that—we do, obviously, have a stake in our material existence—unless we think it is the be all & end all. Unless we constantly crave a newer car, a bigger house, more exotic vacations, more stuffness to source contentment, are always reaching for one more something. The highest expression of taurus is to be content for no reason, to be in a state of missing nothing, of feeling complete, which is one definition of yoga (according to Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati). It is the experience of enoughness.

“He who knows that enough is enough will always have enough.”—Lao Tzu

Krittika derives from the Sanskrit verb that means “to cut” & is ruled by Agni, the primordial God of Fire. Not at all suggesting that self-immolation is appropriate (!), but cutting away, like a surgeon, offering up into the sacrificial fire what doesn’t serve us is. This asterism brings a lesson about our ongoing process of purification, of refining our instrument & how it expresses our self outward into the world.

It’s the twelfth lunar day (tithi), the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is one of the most conflict-free (yay! there’s enough conflict already!). This tithi pretty much guarantees victory … if we take positive action steps toward our goal. It allows us to win any battle, whether internal or external. Surya (the sun) presiding over this tithi reminds us how important it is to have a vision & stay focused on it. Do you know where you’re going, what your goal is? what are you doing to achieve it?

Tuesday is ruled by Mars, our inner action hero, our warrior spirit, who brings more fire into the mix today. The best use of martian energy is to fight our inner demons/enemies, rather than the ones we project onto the world b/c we haven’t. Before we turn others into enemies, it’s always a good idea to look at what’s unresolved in us that’s creating that perception & burn it up—& Krittika can help!

And that’s your daily bliss! Which is a sort of Lunar weather report. May it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
