Embrace Joy with Venus: Finding Balance and Restraint on Fridays

Written by Jamie Epstein

It’s Friday, June 7, & Moon is in Gemini, in the starspace called Ardra. After cozying up in the comfort zone of Taurus, we’re getting a little restless, a little curious about the world beyond the overstuffed couch we’ve been sinking into with tea & a good book (maybe with our fingers continuing to peel back the foil on an exquisite bar of chocolate—ok, showing my, um, hand!).

Gemini vibrates with the frequency of trying new things, exploring new realms—physically, mentally—just b/c we can, just b/c we want to, just for the fun of it. &, if Gemini were an animal, it would be a very social one, like an elephant, not a loner, like a snow leopard; for Gemini wants to share his/her/their discoveries with others. And it’s gonna be a Gemini kinda weekend, so why not get with the program sooner rather than later?

Ardra, oh, stormy Ardra, reminds us that it’s our party & we get to cry if we want to, that we don’t have to keep whatever we’re feeling bottled up inside. just as a good bout of rain clears the air, tears purify, cleanse, allow us to release. & just as the air is cleaner after a storm & the world looks brighter, greener, we feel brighter, fresher, yes? in fact, Ardra means “green,” “fresh,” “moist,” like morning dew, implies a sense of renewal: no rain, no flowers.

It’s the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waxing moon, so it’s time to take our spark of creativity, our intention for this lunar cycle, & fan it into flames, help it grow, nourish it, like, well, a flower (mixed metaphor alert!), & it doesn’t have to be with tears.

Friday is ruled by Venus, who infuses the day with a desire to do what we love, exult in our earthly, embodied existence, especially but not necessarily with the ones we love, to be IN joy. With Venus & sun still right on top of each other, we may have to work a little harder to be in our joy without going overboard, to exercise a bit of restraint, to purify our desire nature, appreciate without needing, without attachment. capisce? IN joy!

And that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
